About the event
Natural Beekeeping Workshop for Beekeepers/Guardians
This workshop, run by Simon Kellam from Just Bee Eco Hives, is ideally suited for those looking for a more natural and sustainable way of keeping their bees or for those simply looking for ways to support wild honey bees in their area.
The day will include a mixture of classroom sessions and an estate walk to observe free living bees. Topics covered:
· Free-living bees, and how they can thrive without human intervention
- Observation of wild bee colonies and an occupied tree hive
- Merits of providing a habitat for free-living bees
- A Bee-cantered Approach to Apiculture
- Practical adaptations you can make to your hives
- Harvesting a small amount of honey without harming the bees
A portion of the ticket sales from this event will be donated to the Natural Beekeeping Trust
This workshop encourages participant interaction with plenty of time for your questions. We will have the opportunity to get close up to bees so you will need protective clothing. (Spare bee suits available with advance notice)
